Bought a refrigerator from them and they didn't tell us we needed a plumber to be on hand to disconnect the water hose (we do not have reverse osmosis) the guy that delivered it kept saying we did and they couldn't touch it. My husband even tried to explain to him it was a hook up for the ice maker. So they left with our refrigerator still in the garage and of course can't come back for a week. I spent four hours empyting and cleaning. Sears sucks and I will never buy from them again!!!!! We r returning it
I can see why this location is only 2.7 stars. We purchased mattresses and they sent the wrong ones. Upon trying to get it rectified, they advertently muddied the waters, by placing another incorrect order. When we went into speak to them about correcting the mistake, an assistant manager (Nicky) had the audacity to insinuate that we were the ones who gave the wrong order (she was very rude). We spoke the General Manager (Kathy) she said that she would take care of the situation, but she has done nothing. We wanted to return the mattresses and she did say that we were to receive an email, to get this done, but we did not received it, as of yet. We now have mattresses of a much lesser quality than what we had originally ordered.
I stopped shopping at this store years ago. There were always numerous out of stocks, long lines and never enough people working. I went back in there today for the first time to just buy a wrench set. The shelf tag was priced wrong of course. I asked an associate about it, he didn't know and I was told to wait my turn as he pointed to a line at the register. I finally got up to the register and it scanned wrong. He couldn't figure out how to fix it, I almost just paid the over marked price just to get out of there. Such an ordeal for just a wrench set. If you want empty shelves, rude overworked employees, upset customers and extremely poor management this is the store for you. I will NEVER shop there again and judging by the empty parking lot that used to always be full, a lot of other people feel the same way.
We (yes, WE, not just my husband) love their Craftsman tools! They have a large selection, and always have the "latest tool out". We also like shopping for clothes there. They are usually a higher quality than some I've purchased at high-end stores. Unlike several items that we paid a lot more for, none of the Sears clothing has fallen apart after one or two washes. We've purchased a LG washer and dryer set there last year, also. The salesman was very helpful and informative. We've already had our included one-year routine maintenance done on them and that gentleman was very nice and professional. We absolutely love that laundry set. We don't spend all day washing and drying a couple of loads of clothes. If anything, we are say, "Is that washer done already?!", or "Really? The clothes are already dry?" My daughter brought her family's clothes here a few times when they first moved to a new place with no washer/dryer. She, and her husband, were amazed at this set and bought some, too.
Anyway, I always cringe when I hear of Sears stores closing, hoping that ours isn't on that list. It is the perfect store, too, if you think about it: a couple can go in together and the man can hang out in the tool section, while the woman goes to shop for clothing, housewares, etc.
It is obvious why they are failing. When I go to Lowe's, Home Depot, or Menard's checkout is a snap. In and out. When we checked out at Sears the only other customer today signed up for some card and took forever while we stood there hoping for another employee to open the other register. Then they ask me if I want to sign up for a rewards card. Then a credit card. My goodness, I just want to go I have work to do. Time is money and Sears wasted 15 minutes of mine at the register! That doesn't include the time I spent being ignored before then. If you're a person who has nothing better to do than stand around waiting while your ignored this is the place for you! I'm buying a John Deere so I don't have to deal with Sears.
